Love his look! You definitely captured dark, powerful and intimidating. The detail also helps him stand out as unique! I’m assuming that he has some sort of dark magic powers? He gives me warlock energy, at least.
Personally, I kind of like the bat design. Have you thought about putting it back, or replacing it with another crest of some sort?

Doesn’t not look like latex, I suppose. It is a pain in the ass to draw, and can very easily look “off.” There’s a fine line between too much detail and too little, and latex rides that line pretty hard.

Awesome design, I love the balance of a refined, regal king and a demonic owl man! I’m kind of reminded of the Grand Duke of Owls from Don Bluth’s Rock-A-Doodle, but that’s probably just because there aren’t many characters who’re giant aristocratic owl-man hybrids with capes and monocles.
